Installation

Last reviewed: 14 September 2026 · Documentation version: 1.1 · Applies to: Current Capture Snaps release

Install the Capture Snaps desktop app on the Windows or Mac computer you will use to manage your event. The separate Capture Snaps TV app displays your event slideshow on a compatible Android TV device.

Choose your download

Visit the Capture Snaps downloads page for every available platform. The Downloads menu at the top of the website also has four direct links:

  • Windows download: the Windows installer (.exe).
  • Mac — Apple silicon: the Mac disk image for Apple silicon processors (ARM64).
  • Mac — Intel (x86-64): the 64-bit Mac disk image for Intel processors.
  • Android TV: the Capture Snaps TV listing on Google Play.

Keep your desktop installer somewhere you can find it again, such as your Downloads folder. You only need the installer that matches your computer.

Which Mac version do I need?

Open the Apple menu → About This Mac.

The Intel download is x86-64, not a 32-bit Mac application. Do not choose a Mac download for a Windows computer.

Install on Windows

  1. Close any existing copy of Capture Snaps.
  2. Open the downloaded .exe installer.
  3. Follow the installation prompts.
  4. Launch Capture Snaps when installation has completed.

Install on Mac

  1. Close any existing copy of Capture Snaps.
  2. Open the .dmg file for your Mac's processor.
  3. Follow the instructions in the disk image to install Capture Snaps.
  4. Open Capture Snaps from your installed applications.

If installation fails or macOS displays a warning you do not recognise, contact support with the message rather than disabling your Mac's security protections.

Install on Android TV

Use Android TV on the downloads page to open the official Capture Snaps TV listing on Google Play. Choose a compatible TV device and follow Google Play's installation instructions.

Open Capture Snaps TV on the TV and follow its on-screen instructions to display your event slideshow. Use the Windows or Mac desktop app for event management; the TV app is a display companion, not a replacement for the desktop app.

Connect and validate your desktop installation

An internet connection is required for the initial download and subscription validation. The application includes an offline grace period after a successful validation, but you should connect and open it before leaving for an event.

Before your first live event

  • Create a test event.
  • Confirm your watch folder receives booth images.
  • Open the guest upload link on a phone. Guests do not need to install an app.
  • Test the slideshow and any Android TV display you plan to use.
  • Check that your printer has compatible drivers for your computer's operating system, then test printing.
  • Confirm any optional cloud integrations are connected.

Run a complete test using the same computer, network and equipment you will use at the event.

Next: Create your first event.
